Position Summary:
The Infection Control Practitioner plays a crucial role in promoting and maintaining public health standards within the organization. This position is responsible for implementing and overseeing infection control measures, policies, and procedures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The incumbent will collaborate with various departments to develop and execute infection control programs and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement infection control policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
2. Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify potential infection risks, evaluate existing practices, and recommend appropriate interventions.
3. Collaborate with healthcare providers, department heads, and staff to educate and train on infection prevention and control measures.
4. Monitor and investigate suspected or confirmed infectious disease cases, outbreaks, and unusual infection patterns within the organization.
5. Develop and maintain a system for accurate surveillance, reporting, and analysis of infection control data.
6. Stay updated on current infection control guidelines, best practices, and emerging infectious diseases through continuous professional development.
7. Serve as a resource for staff, patients, and visitors regarding infection control practices and provide guidance on appropriate preventive measures.
8. Collaborate with external agencies and organizations to exchange information related to infection control practices and stay abreast of industry trends.
9. Participate in the formulation and implementation of emergency preparedness plans related to infection control.
10. Maintain accurate and detailed records of infection control activities, interventions, and outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of [X] years of experience in infection control, preferably in a healthcare setting.
3. In-depth knowledge of infection prevention and control practices, principles, and guidelines.
4. Strong understanding of epidemiology, healthcare-associated infections, and infectious disease surveillance.

9. Exceptional organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
11. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under minimal supervision.
12. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) strongly preferred.
13. Valid licensure or certification as required by state or local regulations.
